Biography
Ricard Camarena began his professional career in the kitchen in 2001 and developed his own style from the roots of traditional Valencian cuisine and the produce of his surroundings. In 2004 he opened Arrop in Gandia, later moving the restaurant to València. In 2012 he launched Ricard Camarena Restaurant and, in 2017, moved it to its current location at Bombas Gens Centre d'Art, where he continues to develop his gastronomic approach. His cuisine is closely linked to the Valencian vegetable gardens and the Mediterranean Sea. Local produce, vegetables and a constant search for flavour are central to an approach that combines tradition, research and contemporary techniques. Camarena also focuses on making full use of produce and maintains direct relationships with producers, particularly those working in the vegetable-growing areas around València.
Ricard Camarena Restaurant currently holds two Michelin stars and one Green Star. The restaurant is located in the Bombas Gens building and is at the centre of Camarena's gastronomic project, which also includes Canalla Bistro, Central Bar, Habitual and Bar X in València.
