Biography
Gemma López is a founding member of the team behind Suru in Barcelona, together with Carles Morote and Sergi Puig. At the restaurant, she leads front of house and also carries out various tasks related to project management, accounting, pastry and design. Her versatile profile is reflected in the way Suru operates, as a small-scale project in which its different areas are closely connected. López places particular importance on hospitality and on caring for people, both in her relationship with customers and in the team's everyday work.Before launching Suru, the three partners had worked together professionally at Gresca. Since the restaurant opened, López has helped build a project in which front-of-house occupies a central position and where personal service and attention to detail form part of their approach to the profession.
Her career also represents an increasingly transversal profile within the restaurant industry, combining front-of-house responsibilities with management and other areas required to develop and maintain a gastronomic project.
Suru was one of the finalists for the Cuiner Gastronomic Forum Barcelona 2023 Award.
