Enrique Valentí
Enrique Valentí | Caja de cerillas Madrid, Spain
Biography
Enrique Valentí is a chef and the person responsible for Caja de Cerillas, his first solo restaurant, which opened in 2025 in Madrid's Chamberí district. Born in Madrid, he developed much of his professional career in Barcelona, where for more than two decades he led different projects. Before embarking on his own path, he worked in kitchens including Lúculo and Viridiana in Madrid and Drolma in Barcelona.Throughout his career, he has been involved in projects of very different profiles, including Valentí, Casa Paloma, Chez Coco, BarBas, Marea Alta and Adobo. He is also behind Hermanos Vinagre with his brother Carlos. This experience has allowed him to develop a profile connected not only with cooking, but also with the creation and conceptualisation of gastronomic establishments.
At Caja de Cerillas, he has opted for a small format, with eight tables and 25 covers, conceived as a traditional neighbourhood restaurant serving everyday food. The proposal brings back recognisable dishes and recipes connected to culinary tradition, interpreted through his own perspective. Valentí champions cooking designed for the diner and based on produce, craft and consistency, in a project representing a new stage in his professional career.
