    Alba Hugas | Unça Banyoles
    Alba Hugas

    Biography

Alba Hugas is part of the team behind Unça, a restaurant in Banyoles that champions popular Catalan cuisine and its relationship with the territory. Trained at Escola Massana, she later decided to pursue a career in cooking and trained in Bilbao before joining Mugaritz, in Gipuzkoa. At Unça, she develops a cuisine that recovers recipes and cooking methods linked to tradition and brings them into her own approach. Unça’s cuisine is based on a simple idea: many of the cooking and preservation methods that form part of traditional cuisine were determined by the produce available and the need to make the most of it. This approach is reflected in dishes that recover old recipes and present them from a contemporary perspective.
