Biography
Àlex López, Marcos Valyi and Jordi Carbonell make up the kitchen team at Arraval, a restaurant located on the ground floor of the Casa Teva hotel in Barcelona’s Raval district. The project was created with the aim of working with Catalan cuisine from within the neighbourhood, incorporating the diversity and cultural mix that characterise the Raval into traditional recipes and flavours. López began working alongside Jordi Vilà at Alkimia in 2014 and has spent much of his career working with him. He currently heads Arraval and, during the summer season, also the kitchen at Al Kostat del Mar, in Sa Riera, Begur. During this period, Valyi and Carbonell join the Al Kostat del Mar team alongside López. At Arraval, the three work with the Catalan culinary repertoire, revisiting it without seeking excessive complexity and incorporating spices, flavours and references that are part of the reality of the neighbourhood. The result is a sharing-plate style of cooking rooted in tradition and adapted to the context of the Raval.Sessions
