    Biography

With a clear vision and a constant desire to push boundaries, Juan Umbert has made creativity and innovation the cornerstones of his career. His work lies at the intersection of gastronomy, design, technology, science and creativity, exploring new ways of conceiving and transforming the culinary experience. As a result of this conviction, he co-founded Makeat with Adrià Colominas, a centre for gastronomic innovation that promotes the development of products, services and experiences capable of exciting, surprising and generating meaningful connections with people. From there, he leads a collaborative ecosystem that brings together emerging talents, brands and experts from different disciplines, with the aim of exploring the limits of food tech & design and bringing new ideas to life. His main driving force is to offer tangible solutions with a real impact on industries and society. Under his leadership, Makeat has developed the Food Thinking methodology, applied to projects that integrate research, creativity and sustainability. Along the way, he has promoted the creation of Plesh, a healthy snack that reinvents the pleasure of chocolate with bars and sweets with no added sugar, enriched with protein and prebiotic fibre; and more recently liQeat, a research and development centre focused on the liquid universe, created together with Marc Álvarez and Alicia Cuscó. These projects consolidate its commitment to transforming the relationship between gastronomy, innovation and creativity, positioning it as one of the leading voices in building possible futures for the food sector.
