  • Catalonia, World Region of Gastronomy

Cuisine, landscape and talent that captivate the world

Catalonia has been chosen as World Region of Gastronomy, the first European region to receive this recognition. Awarded by IGCAT, the distinction not only celebrates the country’s culinary richness, but also highlights its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and territorial cohesion.

In 2025, the Government of Catalonia is promoting a project that goes far beyond the kitchen: a regenerative vision of tourism, a strong focus on local products, and a celebration of cuisine as a universal language. Catalonia cooks with history, with landscape, with memory, and with a vision for the future. From traditional calçotades to cutting-edge dishes that have revolutionized global gastronomy, the region offers an experience that moves and transforms.

CRMG25 rolls out a calendar of initiatives that connect territory and talent: the European Young Chef Award competition, the “Taste the Grand Tour” route, the “12 months, 12 gastronomic landscapes” program, and international presentations that will showcase Catalan cuisine around the world. All of this comes with a narrative that highlights agriculture, fishing, markets, culinary schools, and the chefs who make Catalonia a land of wonders.

With more than 30 ambassadors and an open network of supporters, CRMG25 is a nationwide movement that champions gastronomy as a cultural, economic, and social engine. It is an invitation to look at Catalonia with fresh eyes, to savour it with all the senses, and to share it with the world.
